My name is Julie Johnson and I am seeking the House
of Representative’s seat in District 54B. Having lived in Shoreview
for the past 23 years, I have a clear understanding of the needs of our
district. My children attended schools here for most of their lives. We
live in a beautifully blessed area and I feel fortunate to call this district
my home. My chosen profession is pharmacy. Through service in this area,
I have come to appreciate and understand the health care needs and challenges
my patients face. I was a small business owner, having owned and operated
a community pharmacy in Falcon Heights, Blomberg Pharmacy, for seventeen
years. I understand the challenges small business owners face including
the provision of comprehensive, affordable health care for their employees
and the ever-increasing tax burden that has forced many businesses out of
the state. I also understand the importance of maintaining local small businesses
and the opportunities these places provide to neighborhoods.
My
current position with the Minnesota Pharmacists Association has provided
me with leadership, advocacy and educational opportunities to help me give
back to my colleagues. I am also an educator, having taught pharmacy classes
to students at the University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy for 12
years. This background and experience are strengths I will bring to the
capitol when elected.
On a personal level, I am an avid hunter. I grew up in northern Minnesota near Tower-Soudan the eldest daughter of a teacher and sportsman who taught me the value and beauty of the outdoors. I attended the University Of Minnesota College Of Pharmacy receiving my Bachelor of Science Degree in 1981 and my Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in 2006.
I have what it takes to be a strong voice for our district and an effective legislator in St. Paul. Please take the time to read about my views on the priority areas of health care, taxes, and education.
My husband, Tim, and I are happiest when together with our children and enjoying the blessings we have as Minnesotans.
